40 Houses behind Plumpang Pertamina Depot Burnt

Massive fire engulfed 40 houses in a densely populated area at Tanah Merah, RT 05, 06 and 07 RW 10, Rawa Badak Selatan Urban Village, Koja Sub-District, North Jakarta, or precisely behind Plumpang Pertamina Depot, Monday (10/6). There is no casualty reported in the incident which causes loss reaching more than Rp 100 million.

The cause of fire is still being investigated. Based on temporary data, fire destroys 40 houses occupied by 70 families

Based on the information gathered, the flames broke out at around 9.30 AM from one of resident’s houses at RT 06/10. Fire kept enlarging due to many houses were made of flammable materials.

“The fire quickly enlarged, I could not save my valuables except for the clothes I’m wearing now,” said Trisnawati (60), a local.

Fire Gutted DPRD Building’s Basement

According to Head of Operational Section for North Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department, Muchtar Zakaria, 18 fire trucks were sent to the scene and the firemen managed to control the flames within an hour later.

“The cause of fire is still being investigated. Based on temporary data, fire destroys 40 houses occupied by 70 families,” he told.

Meanwhile, Head of Rawa Badak Selatan Urban Village, Soetardjo, told that his party is currently collecting data of houses burned in this incident.

“We’re still collecting data of fire victims. The most important thing is for us to set up post for inventory and conduct emergency response,” he stated.
